To bring back a
little of that sporting tradition, members today play manicured
fairways that weave among some of the historical and natural
features that were part of that first course. World-renowned golf
course designer Tom Weiskopf was given the enviable task of
designing the new course. “This par-71 golf course, measuring
approximately 6,700 yards, has the three natural features that
every architect wishes for — big mature trees, natural streams and
significant elevation changes. I’m very excited to be involved
with one of the best sites in Arizona,” he states
enthusiastically.
Weiskopf’s course design embraces all the challenges provided by
the topography. Yet the design creates a memorable golfing
experience for members and guests of every skill level. Players
are awed as they are presented with tall stands of pines lining
the fairways, jutting rockscapes that provide backdrops to
greenside bunkers and meandering streams that punctuate the
18-hole course.
